Blanchardstown Civic Centre
Client: Fingal County Council
Blanchardstown Library and Arts Centre has a total floor area of 4600m2, the library area is the largest in Ireland and the Arts Centre was designed to serve a variety of uses and includes a 280 seat auditorium.
The development is a state of the art facility to cater for the needs of the area as part of the Civic Centre. The external finish of yellow bricks, glass and brushed aluminium was chosen for durability and in keeping with the surrounding buildings.
The wedge-shaped foyer, raising two floors with the glass entrance, is finished with ceramic tiled floor, ash doors and wood panelling. The interior was completed with raised floors and the highest standard of M&E and IT facilities installed with space to allow for upgrade and changes to IT facilities in the future.
The use of natural materials, together with stepped roofing with northern lights, give a high level of natural light to the two and three level interior. The site works incorporates substantial peripheral planting and paving with material sympathetic to the building form.
